Thank you for visiting James Holland Counselling & Coaching. I provide both short- and long-term therapy, supporting adults in Liverpool and across the UK.
Life can be challenging, and it's completely natural to seek support when facing difficulties. As your therapist and coach, I work collaboratively with you to build a relationship based on trust and mutual respect. I offer a supportive space and guidance on your journey of self-discovery, helping you examine your life and make new, meaningful choices along the way.
I invite you to explore the challenges you're facing in a safe, confidential space—offering you a fresh, objective perspective outside your everyday routine. Together, we can analyse your situation, uncover new insights, and develop a clearer understanding of your path forward. I believe therapy isn't about handing you ready-made solutions; it's about equipping you with the tools to create your own path forward.
I work with individuals from all walks of life, each with a unique story and set of challenges. As a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), I adhere to a strict code of ethics to ensure our work is respectful and effective.
In addition to my counselling practice, I am a qualified life coach with extensive personal and professional experience in supporting individuals through addiction and significant life changes. This background enriches my approach, enabling me to offer compassionate, tailored guidance as you navigate your unique challenges and transitions.
I began my career as a Recovery Coach in substance misuse services across Liverpool, Wirral, and St Helens, where I developed a strong foundation in building therapeutic relationships and supporting individuals through significant life challenges. While this role gave me valuable experience in working closely with clients, I wanted to deepen my theoretical understanding and broaden my professional skills.
This led me to complete a Diploma in Integrative Counselling, which has equipped me with a wider range of approaches and therapeutic theories. Now, as an Integrative Counsellor and Coach for adults, I’m able to draw on different methods to tailor my work to each client’s unique needs — helping them move towards healing, growth, and greater self-confidence.
In my practice as an integrative counsellor, I draw on a broad range of theories, methods, and techniques—tailoring my approach to suit your specific needs. My expertise is built on both formal study and personal experience, allowing me to connect with you on a deeper level. My work is grounded in a keen understanding of how childhood experiences, family dynamics, and social and cultural influences shape self-esteem, relationships, identity, and overall well-being.
I’m committed to supporting your mental and physical well-being, with the aim of helping you become more confident, relaxed, and empowered to make meaningful, lasting changes. I take the time to truly understand your concerns and goals, working with you to design a personalized plan that reflects your unique journey—because there's no one-size-fits-all solution.
By working together, I can support you in gaining deeper insight into the challenges you’re facing and help you understand the thoughts, feelings, and behaviours that may be holding you back. Through this process, we can explore new ways of responding to difficulties, so you can begin to make healthier, more empowering choices that lead to positive change in your life.

I offer face-to-face sessions from comfortable therapy rooms in Liverpool. Full location details will be provided once we arrange your first counselling or coaching session. I also offer Walking Therapy in Liverpool, if appropriate, which involves walking and talking in some of the beautiful parks in south Liverpool.
In addition to in-person therapy, I also provide telephone counselling and online sessions for clients across the UK. If you'd like to know more about how online therapy works and whether it might be a good fit for you, please feel free to get in touch.
Counselling and coaching sessions for individuals last one hour and cost £50 per session. I also provide a limited number of discounted spaces for those on low-income or for students; please contact me to enquire about availability.
I offer a free 20-minute telephone consultation to discuss your reasons for considering counselling or coaching. This no-obligation call gives us both the opportunity to ask questions and determine whether I’m the right therapist/coach to support you. By the end of our conversation, you’ll have a clear understanding of how we might work together and, if you’d like to proceed, we can easily book our first session.
Note that if you want to cancel an appointment, I require 24 hours’ notice; otherwise, you may still need to pay for any sessions missed. I accept payment by bank transfer or cash.
If you have any questions or would like to arrange your free consultation, please use the contact form or call/text me on 07565 943 692. I look forward to speaking with you!
